Book Review: 1776 by David McCullough
David McCullough is one of the premiere writers of American history in this current generation. His research and insight on the events surrounding the American Revolution and the year 1776. He describes how it was not only important and pivotal because of the Declaration of Independence, but how the war was being fought by General George Washington.
Great Britain at this time was a behemoth and to think that Washington's ragtag army could beat the British was unthinkable and if were a movie few would find it plausible. McCullough details mainly Washington and his army and the bad breaks and the unbelievably good breaks they got that fateful year. If you like McCullough you will love 1776. Anyone interested in the themes of this time in American history will love it as well.
